Alessandro P. Giorgetti was born on August 7, 1959 in Milan, where he lives with his wife and two children.

He graduated in Private International Law at the State University of Milan in 1983 with a research thesis on Product Liability. He also studied Comparative Commercial Law at Robinson College of Cambridge, in England.

He has been enrolled in the Bar Association of Milan since 1988 and he is also enrolled in the Special Bar for the Court of Cassation, Audit Office and Constitutional Court.

During his stay in the UK, he worked at Glanvill Entoven Ltd, a Lloyd’s Broker, where he acquired his deep knowledge about the London Insurance Market and its extremely particular regulations.

 

He has acquired a wide knowledge about insurance issues regarding Financial Institutions (including B.B.B., Cash in Transit and Fidelity), Professional Indemnity, Medical Malpractice, Directors & Officers’ Liability and Products Liability.

 

He is an expert in Fine Arts and J.B.P, particularly in the London, Antwerp and German markets. He is also an expert in Reinsurance and Reinsurance Litigation, where he has been the main consultant or counsel for some of the most important cases involving Italian companies.

Being fluent in English and French, Mr Giorgetti is also used to working in these languages and he is an active member of the International Bar Association (Insurance, Medical Malpractice Insurance & Negligence Damages Committees). (comitati Insurance, Medicine e Negligence & Damages).

 

vice-president for the Reinsurance Committee in 1998 and 1999, as well as vice-president of the Multination Litigation Committee in 2000 and 2001 and from 2005 to 2007.

He is a member of the D.R.I. - Defence Research Institute - and since 1996 he has been reported in the “Guide to the World’s Leading Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers” published by Euromoney and since 2000 he is also present in the “International Professional Who’s Who”.

 

Mr. Alessandro Giorgetti is author of various articles on insurance issues, as well as chapters on Italian Jurisdiction in the following publications:
